Ascophyllum nodosum contains several bioactive compounds such as polysaccharides (alginic acid, fucans, laminarin), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), vitamins, antioxidants ( phlorotannins).
These natural compounds have direct impact on shrimp immunostimulation and growth performance.
Feed pellets used in aquaculture typically include binders. With high levels of alginate, Ascophyllum nodosum improves pellets quality in feed formulation resulting in higher fish intake and less pellets disintegration into water.
Process
